HyVee Cash for Students HyVee is again sponsoring Cash for Students. We will be collecting cash register receipts dated 9/1/19-12/31/19. For every $200 spent HyVee donates $1 to SJS. Receipts can be dropped off in the school bins at both parishes or sent to school with your students. Last year we collected $936.18! Let’s top that this year.
Virtual Backpack Our weekly virtual backpack is emailed to all families. But if you know of a family member or friend who doesn’t have students in the school, and would like the virtual backpack emailed to them, feel free to contact the office. We want as many people as possible to know all the great things going on at SJS. But the virtual backpack is useless if it is not read. Please make the reading of the weekly virtual backpack an important part of your weekly routine. This is a simple way to know of all that is going on at school. |

LINK | Parents,
The basketball program is open to all 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls who attend St. James / Seton (SJS) School or are Home School students in the St. James/St. Elizabeth Ann parishes. If your child elects to go out for St. James / Seton Basketball this fall/winter; the registration process including the medical statement and payment of the participation fee will need to be completed online (debit/credit card via PayPal; note, you do not need to have a PayPal account to pay online). Note: register and pay the participation fee by September 25th and you save $30!!! Evaluations will be held on September 22nd & 29th at Roncalli High School. For updated information regarding evaluation dates and times for each grade, please go to SJS Athletics (link) web site and click on the basketball link in the top right hand side of the screen. Evaluation dates and times for each pertinent grade will be listed soon. We will again have 2 evaluations for each grade (boys and/or girls) as long as we have at least 12-14 players registered. Please try to have your son attend both evaluations if possible, but this hopefully will give everyone a chance to get to at least one evaluation. If you have questions, contact TJ Burbridge at 402-689-6922, sjsad17@gmail.com. |
We will continue to focus on a “Spotlight Skill” each month based on the Boys Town Life Skills. Many of us take basic social skills for granted because we learned them when we were young and use them every day. Modeling and practicing these skills is important to any child’s future success in school and life.
Learning social skills helps to address behavior and create a healthier school environment. We have chosen a handful of meaningful social skills to teach and reinforce, with a goal to build on those over time. We will talk about the skills in the announcements, in Guidance classes, and they will also be reinforced in the classroom. Working on these skills at home would also help mastering skills over time. Helping students become stronger academically is a top priority, but we are also committed to helping them grow socially and emotionally. During the month of September we will focus on Greeting Others. Below are the steps provided to practice this skill:
