Looking for ways to complete those service hours?
There are many volunteer opportunities available. Go to iVolunteer @ https://stjamesseton.
Don’t forget to send a brief email to parentparticipation@sjsomaha.
The entire school will use an online sign up for our parent teacher conferences again this year. We want to try and eliminate the long waits and unknown time requirements. So please, sign up to see all the teachers you would like, and keep an eye out for the email opening the conference site. Thanks for all you do. |

Scholastic Book Fair
It’s that time again!! The Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner. With your support, our two book fairs each year allow us to purchase a significant number of new and popular books for our library. We are fortunate to reach and surpass our goals each year. Our goal this year is to sell 733 books. That’s an increase of 20% over last year’s Fall Book Fair. I know with your help we can meet and exceed this. Not only can the library purchase additional books, your child also benefits. Reading Matters! A child who reads just 20 minutes a day has the potential of reading 1.8 million words per year. But we can’t be successful without your help. Once again we are seeking volunteers. The Fall Book Fair will run from Thursday, October 17th through Thursday, October 24th. The Fair will be open before school (7:40-8:00) and after school (3:15-4:00). We will be open during Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, October 24th (we will open one hour before conferences begin and close fifteen minutes before they end so we can begin to pack up the fair). I will need 7th and 8th grade student volunteers before and after school to help with our mascot and our school supply/trinket table. I will also need student volunteers for shifts on Thursday, October 24th. I have the shifts set up in two-hour intervals, but students may volunteer for more than one shift. They will receive service hours for their efforts. I will also need adult volunteers to help in the morning and after school. I will especially need adult volunteers on Thursday, October 24th. These shifts are also set up in two-hour intervals, but you are welcome to volunteer for more than one shift, or even part of a shift if that better meets your needs. You will also receive service hours for this time. Please consider volunteering for this great event. It’s fun and easy. You get to meet parents and students as well as have a good time. It’s not difficult and you will be shown what to do, so don’t worry if you have never worked at a book fair before. Please check iVolunteer @ https://stjamesseton. Thank You! Mrs. Vamosi |
