9 February Letter from Mr. Kelly
February 9, 2022
Friday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear St. James/Seton Catholic School Community,
Congratulations to the 19 high school scholarship winners from SJS! Way to go! That’s approximately one third of the students who took the high school entrance exam who won a scholarship. This illustrates the great work our teachers and staff do at SJS, and also the support we have from our parents. The outstanding can become routine at SJS, because of the great kids and teachers we have. But, it’s important to point out and celebrate our significant accomplishments. And, we are always looking to add new families who would benefit from the SJS experience. If you can add a SJS yard sign to your property just contact the office. We also have posters that can be used for display at a workplace bulletin board. But, we know that a parent who can speak about the value of a SJS education is our most powerful recruitment tool. Thanks for your help in spreading the word. Don’t forget to let others know about our Roundup on the 18th of this month.
We already have 59 families who have submitted their parent participation hours. The overall point of the program is to get more parents involved in the school; sometimes a little encouragement is all that is needed. And there are additional benefits too which are significant: lowered costs, examples of service for students, parents making new connections, etc. Once your hours are completed simply send a brief outline of how the hours were finished to – parentparticipation@sjsomaha.
As you make your summer plans there are a few pieces of information that you may find helpful. Our first day of school for 2022-23 will be tentatively planned for August 16th. School will be dismissed early the 16th and 17th. Welcome Night will be the 15th and Curriculum Night is the 25th of August.
Thanks for all you do.
Peace,
William Kelly
Principal
