8 October Letter from Mr. Kelly
Friday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time
Dear SJS Catholic School Community,
We are finished now with our Terra Nova testing in grades 3-8. Thank you for all your help and ensuring student attendance. It was a long week of focusing, thinking, and answering difficult questions. We are proud of our students and the hard work they put into these tests. The results will arrive in a few weeks and help us with future school planning, and give you more information about the academic abilities of your student.
Don’t forget to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences. You received an email with the online instructions for doing so. We ask every parent to attend these first semester conferences. Anyone unvaccinated is asked to wear a mask while in the building. This conference can help you establish new goals and determine if any tweaks need to be made to your goals or homework procedures. We appreciate your continued support. If students know that home and school are working together and are on the same page, great progress can be made.
We are excited to host our SOAR Dinner again on November 20th. We are getting new items for our event every week. Thanks for those who have offered their support. We are in urgent need of gift cards, sponsors, and silent auction items if you can help. And, your attendance at the event is important as well. And, the event is great fun! The deadline for purchasing a meal is November 11th. See the website for further details and meal tickets- https://one.bidpal.net/
In recent years we have made the teachers into ice cream sundaes, we have slimed the teachers, and held a “Wheel of Misfortune” as raffle sales incentives. All of which were great fun—for the kids. But, last year we discovered a new favorite incentive for sales. If we reach our raffle ticket sales goal of 3100 tickets, we will end the school year one full day early and make our final day May 19th with a 10:30 dismissal. By May generally everyone is looking forward to summer break. Thanks for your continued support. If you need more raffle tickets just contact the office.
As the weather gets colder you might be in need of a new uniform sweatshirt. Digiorgios is our exclusive sweatshirt vendor. They are also strong school supporters. Check out their store location or online at- https://www.digiorgios.com/ . It’s also wise to put the student’s name on the inside of the sweatshirt. Thanks for your continued support.
Peace,
William Kelly
