4 February Letter from Mr. Kelly
Friday of the 4th Week in Ordinary Time
Dear SJS Catholic School Community,
SJS! What a fun Catholic Schools Week we have had! The special events help highlight the many blessings we have at SJS! Thanks to all the teachers and students for their willingness to participate. Also, thanks to our Home and School Association who worked to make the week special. This week is to be a celebration of who we are, and that is proudly a Catholic school.
February 10th is our 2nd semester Parent/Teacher Conference Day. As in previous years, these conferences are not mandatory but can be called by a parent or teacher. You should have received a form that outlines the online sign-up process if interested. If you did not receive that form please contact your homeroom teacher. We also have had some students delayed in their pick up at the end of the day. We do not have the staffing for supervision after school, so any student who remains after school will be sent to Kidscare and parents will be charged. Thanks for your help and support.
We are moving towards the fourth quarter. In fact, today we are in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Please make sure you check Sycamore, and read the teacher emails, to see how your students are progressing. But, this progress is exciting. I can see the growth in the students academically and behaviorally and thank you parents for your support. We want the students to learn as much as possible before the year is over, so attendance and effort will be vital. We also want to maintain academic rigor, so we will be continuing to challenge our students. One of our school goals is to have addition and subtraction facts mastered (meaning the answer can be recalled very quickly) by the end of 2nd grade, and multiplication and division mastered by the end of 4th grade. We also want students to avoid late work. Your help will be necessary to reach these goals. We take academics seriously and want our students to reach their absolute fullest potential.
Don’t forget to spread the word about our upcoming Preschool and Kindergarten Roundup on the 18th. If you have a friend that would be a good fit at SJS have them contact the office. And, if you have a visible location for a school yard sign just let us know and we will send one home. Thanks for all you do.
Peace,
William Kelly
