24 March Virtual Backpack

IMPORTANT DATES

  • March 27: Spirit Dress Down Day
  • April 4: Free will dress down day to support EPS
  • April 6-11: Easter Break.

Cereal Box Challenge  We challenge you to bring in cereal boxes! Isn’t it fun to watch dominoes fall? Third grade has a way to help others and have some fun too!  We are inviting each family or child to donate a full, unopened cereal box to the school. The third graders will set the boxes up like dominos outside and you can come watch the boxes fall. Our goal is to get 500 boxes that we will donate to a local food bank.

Please bring boxes of cereal to 301 or 302 by April 4.

NestFest is Coming! Nest Fest 2023 Kick-Off is Monday, March 27! The motto is “How Sweet it is at SJS” and we are using a CandyLand theme through the use of decorations, games, bright colors, and a LIVE CandyLand game during our all school assembly (with a sprinkle of sweet treats mixed in). For a sneak peak at the details head on over to https://www.sjshsa.org/nest-fest-2023.

Our altar servers have gone above and beyond and we are so proud of them! They were recognized by the Serra Club during an awards ceremony.
Recipients are front row left to right, Brie Kennedy, Mady Thomassen, Mary Penny. Back row left to right, Drew Hayford and Jacob Retallick.  Thank you for your service to our Church!

Yard Signs There are still SJS yard signs available. If your yard has a good space to advertise for SJS, please contact the school office.

Drop Off  Why not try the drop off lane?! There are two drop off options in the morning in front of the school and on Tomahawk. The 4th quarter is a good time to give your student some independence and let them walk into school themselves via the drop off lanes. Thanks for considering this option.

Gilbride Scholarship Application  The SJS Athletic Association is now accepting scholarship applications. $500 scholarship will be awarded to one 8th grade boy and one 8th grade girl who have participated in athletics through the SJSAA or the SJEAYSC, and will be continuing their education at an Omaha-area Catholic High School. Applications are due April 5, 2023. Please visit the athletic association website for information on how to submit your application:   https://www.sjsathletics.com/rick_gilbride_memorial_scholarship/scholarship-forms/

Confirmation Reception  The Home and School Association sponsors a Confirmation Reception after the Confirmation Mass for all of the newly confirmed and their families. Cake, cookies, and refreshments are served in the parish center following the mass. It is a tradition that the current 7th grade (and younger) families volunteer by bringing an item or helping out the night of the event. There is only one confirmation mass this year on Friday, April 21st at St. James. Please sign up to help using the link below. If you have any questions email Jill Kreikemeier at learnpraylove@gmail.com.   https://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080D48A5A929A1F85-confirmation
