22 September Virtual Backpack

A big thanks to all of the families who have contributed to the SOAR silent auction. There are great items coming in! Last week, for every donation made, your student was entered into a drawing for bonus time in the new STEM Lab! The winner will be drawn next week.

Currently, we are also in great need of gift cards for the Eagle’s Nest at SOAR. The Eagle’s Nest is a wall of envelopes where participants will have a chance to match or exceed your $20 donation by choosing from one of the many “eggs” in the “nest” that contain various gift cards. The Eagle’s Nest includes gift cards to a variety of places around Omaha. We are hoping that the next time you are out to eat or shopping, you consider purchasing a gift card for any denomination and then donate it to SOAR. There will only be so many “eggs” available at the event, so you will need to act quickly.

Check out the SOAR Amazon wish list!

If you would like to contribute to SOAR in some way or have questions, please contact the school office or e-mail thoward@sjsomaha.org. You can also forward any donations to the office marked “SOAR.” The deadline for donations is November 1st.

Drop Off   A few reminders for SJS Catholic School regarding morning drop off-
-If dropping off at the main school entrance, staff will be there to assist you and your student.  They can open the door and guide your student toward school if needed.
-If dropping off at the main school entrance, once cars have stopped, please allow your student to exit the car.  No need to wait for the curved area by the flag pole.
-If parking in the morning, please park in the center parking lot and escort your children across the traffic and do not double park.
-The parking lot in front of the rectory is primarily for parking for staff, it is not a student drop off area.
-Please have the student exit curb side of the vehicle.
-It is best to not park in the drop off lane as students may need to be dropped off prior to school starting for work with a teacher.

St. James/Seton School KidsCare is seeking after school caregivers who is available to work from 3 to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday when school is in session.

Children’s Liturgy has resumed at St James during 9:30 mass on Sundays.   We invite any children K through 3rd to join us, but all ages are welcome.  It’s the same Sunday readings and gospel but the language is geared towards younger school age children.  The homily is question and answer.  We process to the parish center after the opening prayers and then return to church during the offertory.

We are also looking for adults to wish to help with this ministry.  You can contact Phil Burris (402) 739-0441 for more information.
