20 December Letter from Mr. Kelly

Friday of the Third Week of Advent

Dear SJS Catholic School Community,

Congratulations to the SJS tuition scholarship winners that were recognized yesterday.  Each was selected by teachers based on a specific set of criteria that included: academic effort, Catholic values, positive behaviors, character, and service.  Congratulations to our scholarship winners:

SJS Staff Scholarship-Noah Coon, Micah Lytle, Evie Kelly, Sara Briganti, Nolan Thomassen

SJS Honorary-Brianna Sedlak

Janet Jorgensen Memorial-Cesar Rivera-Horn

Jake Jackson Memorial-Rasmus Vitamvas

A job well done to these students and their families on this honor.  We appreciate the example these students provide.  We definitely also want to thank the families and individuals who make these scholarships possible.  So a sincere thank you goes to the Jackson and Jorgensen families.  We appreciate your continued dedication and support of SJS and Catholic education.

Did you know that right now over 900 hours of parent participation have been submitted?  Way to go SJS!  What a great piece of evidence that our parents are invested and interested in the school.  Thank you for showing your students faith put into action.  If you finish your hours over break feel free to submit an email to-  parentparticipation@sjsomaha.org .

Mark your calendars for our first ever SJS Music Bingo Night!  It is like regular bingo, but more musical, and even more fun and interactive.  This is a school fundraiser and “fun raiser” as we gather together with family and friends.  Hope you can join us March 28th.  And, you can also spread the word about our upcoming Preschool and Kindergarten Roundup on February 20th.  This is an opportunity to learn more about our programs, visit with the teachers, and learn how we help our youngest of learners.  Please spread the word to your friends and family.

We have a few exciting happenings at SJS to let you know about as well.  Mr. Potter, after being nominated by a student, won Star 104.5’s teacher of the week contest.  A link to his presentation can be found- https://www.104star.com/2019/12/18/teacher-of-the-week-mr-tim-potter-12-18-19/

And, Ms. Brown won a favorite teacher contest sponsored by Olson Orthodontics after being nominated by a student.  Way to go to our fine SJS teachers!

On behalf of the entire SJS Catholic School community, I wish you a blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with peace.  I look forward to continuing our great work in 2020.  School resumes January 6th.

Christmas blessings to you and yours,

William Kelly
