13 October Letter from Mr. Kelly
Thursday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Dear SJS Catholic School Community,
We have reached the end of the first quarter. One quarter done! Way to go, SJS! It’s exciting to make such progress. We look forward to Parent/Teacher Conferences on the 27th. If you did not sign up yet for a time, your options may be limited, but we still expect all parents to be here on the 27th. After a visit with the teachers, it may be beneficial to re-examine goals and expectations for the rest of the school year. Teachers will work hard to change behaviors or habits, but working together with home great progress can be made. Just a reminder, if ever a situation arises, it is best to communicate first with the teachers as they will have the details and firsthand knowledge to help. And, as a rule, teachers are very fair and want to help the students. Teachers are in this field because they want to help students and are committed to student success. So, I have found that it is always best to give the staff the benefit of the doubt.
We are excited for “Givetober” over the next two weeks. In case you missed that email, essentially, all donations over the next two weeks to SOAR will be doubled. So, if you donate a $25 gift card, $25 will be donated to SOAR. If you give a gift basket worth $50, SOAR will be given $50. We have a generous donor who sees the value of SOAR and is willing to make this kind donation. Let’s take advantage of this opportunity! If you own or work for a business we have opportunities available at SOAR as well for advertising that can help spread the word.
We have been challenging the students this year to “be Jesus” for others and to look for simple ways they can help others to have a better day. An opportunity that is going on now is the annual St. Vincent DePaul coat drive. Feel free to clean out the closets and also set an example for your student. The coat drive ends on Monday. Thanks for all you do.
Peace,
William Kelly
Principal
