2023/2024 School Calendar

From the Library…We had a wonderful year in the library! The students learned many new things and enjoyed new stories and old favorites.

Here’s a snapshot of some of our major accomplishments this year:

Books in Collection: 23,581

  • Number of books checked out (August through April): 14,914

  • Average number of books per month: 1,657

  • Average number of books per student: 34

Million Word Challenge (2nd through 8th grade)

  • Students read books (from any source) and take and pass an Accelerated Reader quiz. I run a weekly report and update totals. (For books with no quizzes, students tell me about the book and we figure out the number of words. I add that to their total.)

  • Students receive incentives when they reach certain levels – 100,000, 250,000, 500,000, 1,000,000, 5,000,000, and 10,000,000 words.

  • 24 students read 1,000,000 words

    • 8 of those students read 2,000,000, 3,000,000, or 4,000,000 words

    • 1 student read 5,00,000,000 words (a 7th grader)!

TOTAL WORDS READ (2nd through 8th – from AR quizzes only): 103,806,331

(7th graders read the most –  31,475,029 words!!)

Also: Your student might have brought a book home that they said they may keep. They are correct! We’ve been weeding books out of the library that are out of date, damaged, or that haven’t been checked out in five or more years. The bar code in the upper right hand corner of the back cover will be blacked out and there will be a red “Discarded” stamp on the inside cover. Please do not send the books back – your child may keep them.

Spread the Word!
We are always looking to create new disciples. So, any family that refers a new preschool, pre-kindergarten, or kindergarten family (who registers for next year) will receive $100 off of their 2023-24 tuition! So please spread the word!
