MCS Shout out for Charlie Morrison for being one of the 5 Music in Catholic School students to be selected for the Nebraska 8th Grade All-State Band:
Band students from all over Nebraska auditioned for the 2023 Nebraska 8th Grade All-State Band. Our own Charlie Morrison was chosen as the 1st chair Bari Saxophone player across the entire state! Charlie also has the distinction of being the first student from the Omaha Music in Catholic Schools to be selected to the All-State Jazz Band. He will travel to Kearney, Nebraska for a January 7th performance with the other top 8th grade musicians. Congratulations Charlie for your awesome accomplishment!
From the Library… Thank you so much for all your support for the Fall Book Fair!!!
Because of your generosity, we sold $6,136.10 in product, for a profit of $2,918.05. Scholastic offers two ways to take the money earned at book fairs – Scholastic Dollars or cash. I take our profits in Scholastic Dollars, because we earn 50%, instead of the 25% we would receive if I took cash (we had a one-time fuel surcharge of $150 deducted out of our profits for this fair). I will use the money we raised to pay for our Scholastic Go and Bookflix subscriptions, as well as books and other items for the library. THANK YOU!!!
Please mark your calendars for our Spring Book Fair – March 9th through March 17th. I will again ask for both adult and junior high volunteers. Keep an eye out for the information in the Virtual Backpack sometime in early February. I appreciate any help you or your student can give.
We don’t have Parent/Teacher Conferences during the Spring Book Fair, but we will have StoryTime night on Tuesday, Mary 14th (Pi Day!!). This is for our younger students – more information will be provided closer to the event. I usually keep the Book Fair open on that day after school until the StoryTime event is over. I’ll provide more information regarding my hours that day as it gets closer.
On a different note, please remind your student to return library books. I haven’t sent reminders yet, but those will be coming soon. I don’t charge fines for overdue materials, but it’s a good idea to get your child in the habit of returning borrowed materials as soon as they are finished with them, since others may want to read them.

iVolunteer Below is a brief description and links for the areas that we most need volunteers in. Check them out and see if any of these would work for you.
This is a fun way to get involved in one of our schools largest fundraisers. We need help in any of the following ways: transporting donated items to Prep, Cleanup after the dinner on Saturday night, filling water goblets, dismissing dinner guests for dinner, checkout guests. This is a fun easy way to get your volunteer hours completed. If you have high school or college students, please consider having them volunteer as well.
