1 October Virtual Backpack

We need your support to make this year’s SOAR development fundraiser a smashing success! We are still very much in need of donations. Many awesome auction items and gift cards have been donated thus far, but we still have a ways to go! If you need ideas on an auction item to contribute, please check out our Auction Wish List! Your contribution to the auction directly benefits our students and staff. The most popular part of our SOAR dinner is the silent auction, but another portion that has a major impact on the night is the Eagle’s Nest.

Invitations are coming home next week.

Eagle’s Nest
We are seeking gift cards for the Eagle’s Nest for our SOAR Development event! The Eagle’s Nest is a wall of envelopes where participants will have a chance to match or exceed your $20 donation by choosing from one of the many “eggs” in the “nest” that contain various gift cards. The Eagle’s Nest includes gift cards to a variety of popular places around Omaha. We are hoping that the next time you are out to eat or shopping, you consider purchasing a gift card for any denomination and then donate it to SOAR. There will only be so many “eggs” available at the event, so you will need to act quickly.

Volunteer Opportunities Check out the new volunteer opportunities for SOAR @ https://stjamesseton.ivolunteer.com/event_241.  You can find other opportunities at https://stjamesseton.ivolunteer.com/#1.

Home and School will be providing goodie bags, snacks and a meal for all teachers at Parent/Teacher Conferences.  This year Best Bison will be catering the meal and all monetary donations will go to help cover that cost.  We will need some items donated for the goodie bags, desserts and drinks.  Remember if you purchase items that equals 1 hour of parent volunteer hours.  If you have any questions please contact Crystal Anderson, crystal_anderson05@yahoo.com.  Check out iVolunteer for volunteer opportunities https://stjamesseton.ivolunteer.com/event_240.

Registration will stay open until Oct. 15. Late fees will be assessed beginning Oct. 10.
Tryouts will only be for teams that NEED split into 2 or more teams. Not all teams will require a tryout. Watch the VB for tryout dates and times. You will receive an email if your team needs a tryout.  Late registrants cannot be guaranteed a spot on a team once tryouts are complete. Failure to attend tryouts will automatically put you on a B team.

Athletic Association – The Athletic Association is currently seeking new members. Without members and volunteers, we cannot open our gyms to host our PAL games. Without being able to host games we will not be allowed to be a part of PAL.  Gym supervisions are done during SJS games. You can get your volunteer hours in while you watch your child play their sport!  The job is very simple.
