Teacher Appreciation Week

May 7th  – May 11th Teachers will receive a Thank You from Home and School, donated by parents, to show our appreciation for them teaching our children.

Dine out for SJS

Wednesday May 9th at Culver’s 120th and Blondo – 5pm -9pm Make sure you mention SJS to get credit ☺

Kindergarten Eagles Wings Luncheon May 10th    

Lunch for our SJS staff and support staff.

Easy way to volunteer – if you have a student in Kindergarten go to iVolunteer and see what they may need for the lunch they are providing.

Year End Review -

Look for a newsletter to come out towards the end of May with Home and School’s year in review. Some updates for next year will also be in the newsletter.

If you would like to be more involved with HSA next year please see the positions below that we are looking to fill:

Walk-a-thon co-coordinator – Would help set up and run walk-a-thon

Fall Boutique:

Kitchen Coordinator – would shadow the event this year, November 2018 and take over for the school year of 2019-2020

Advertising/Marketing Coordinator- would shadow the event this year, November 2018 and take over for the school year of 2019-2020

Storytime coordinator – would coordinate this with the librarian during the spring book fair

Confirmation Receptions (SEA and SJ) coordinator – Would shadow for the 2018-2019 school year and take over for the following year

May Day Baskets coordinator – assemble and deliver on May Day 2019

~H.O.P.E. is hosting their annual Parking Lot Sale Saturday, June 23rd from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

If you would like to rent a SJ parking space for $20 or really get a good deal and get 2 for $30 you can purchase a ticket at the HOPE table after mass; HOPE office at SJS or call 402-572-7897 to secure your spots.

This is a great way to sell your garage; yard or craft sale items and anything leftover at end of sale can be donated to St. Vincent de Paul (truck will be standing by) so you won’t have to take anything back with you.

~Registration for Vacation Bible Fun (June 25-29) hast started!

The theme for Vacation Bible Fun this year is Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus. We will explore how Jesus rescues us when we are worried, lonely, struggling, when we do wrong and when we are powerless.

Vacation Bible Fun 2018:  June 25th - 29th 9:00 am to noon (M-Th)

9:00am to 11am (Fri) at St. James /Seton School

● Any child entering Pre-K-4th grade in the Fall of 2018 are welcome to attend!

● Students entering 5th grade – 8th grade in the Fall of 2018 may apply to be a Student Aide in one of the VBF areas.

● Soon to be graduates, high school students, and adults are also needed as classroom Teachers and Adult Helpers. No experience is necessary…all the materials and plenty of guidance are provided!

● Program will be Thursday at 6:30pm.  All students will decorate a t-shirt (provided by parents) to wear at the program.

● Teachers, adult helpers, coordinators, & aides are asked to attend informational meeting on June 12th at 6:00pm/6:20pm at SEA

All registration forms (including volunteer forms) are available at St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann’s in the foyer of the church or can be found on our website:

~SJS Volleyball Parents, The volleyball program is open to all 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade girls who attend St. James / Seton (SJS) School or are Home School students in the St. James/St. Elizabeth Ann parishes.  


If your daughter(s) elects to go out for St. James / Seton Volleyball this fall; the registration process including the medical statement and payment of the participation fee will need to be completed online (debit/credit card via PayPal; note, you do not need to have a PayPal account to pay online).  Note: register and pay the participation fee by May 15th and you save $20!!!


An optional informational meeting for parents only will take place on Wednesday, May 9th at 7:00 PM at the St. James / Seton school gym.  A reference document (Volleyball Parent Handbook – 2018) is attached and such items within the document will be discussed during the meeting.


Evaluations will be held in May and players will need to supply their own knee pads during evaluations.  For updated information regarding evaluation dates and times for each grade, please go to SJS Athletics (link) web site and click on the volleyball link in the top right hand side of the screen.  Evaluation dates and times for each pertinent grade are listed.

~SJS Summer Art Camp Mrs. Smith will be hosting art camp for students entering grades 4-8 in the fall of 2018.  For all the details regarding the camp and how to get signed up see attached flyer


~TAGG’s Spring into Summer School Contest runs April 15 – May 15.  The TAGG app can be used to support the school year-round, but from 4/15-5/15, you can help the school WIN even more than just donations!  To see how the contest works check out details @
