Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Team.  The Team had a very successful day Saturday at the State Science Olympiad competition in Lincoln. They placed in the top 6 in 8 events.  Team points are awarded through the top 10 places. All team members placed in the top 10 in at least one of their respective events, which gave us a team placement of 8th out of 30 teams.


Team Members:  Nate Dugan, Jack Gillogly, Bailey Kollasch, Nile Langenfeld, Dominic Melrose, Faith Morrison, Sean Patterson, Zoey Rauterkus, Isaac Richards, Karina Rief, Lexi Tenorio and Megan Wilkins.

To everyone who volunteered, donated baked goods and attended the Schwers Family fundraiser, we cannot thank you enough!  Without each and every one of you providing support and hard work our fundraiser would not have been the huge success that it was. So many donations and so many volunteers, it was a great night!

Are your kids watching 13 Reasons Why?  READ THIS!
The most recent Netflix series hit, 13 Reasons Why, is creating a buzz among teenagers about teen suicide.  It is also creating a buzz among school professions, mental health professionals, and many who work to prevent suicide and violence. This series is based on the popular book by Jay Asher.  The series follows a group of high school students as they piece together a story left behind for them by their classmate, Hannah Baker, who died by suicide. Though the series creates a buzz about important topics like suicide, according to mental health experts it falls short of talking about mental health issues and support for our teenagers.  Instead it comes increasingly close to romanticizing suicide for some of our most volatile students. This show also depicts scenes of sexual violence and underage drinking.

Many students have become obsessed with the show and hence have obtained an unrealistic example of how tragic suicide really is.  Most importantly the fact that suicide is forever.  It is important for ALL students to know there is help and resources available.  If your child is watching 13 Reasons Why or even if your child isn’t take a moment and talk with them assure them that help is available and suicide is never an answer.   If you or your child needs support, contact your school counselor.  Together we are determined to keep our children safe.

~Home and School Positions for 2017 School Year

We are looking to fill a couple of positions for the new school year. Here is a description of what each position entails. If you are interested please contact HSA President, Crystal Anderson,


Vice President - Duties of the Vice President include, but are not limited to:

1)      Assist the President in overseeing the HSA.

2)      Take the lead at meetings of the HSA in the absence of the President.

3)      Serves as ex-officio member of all standing committees.

4)      Shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the President or by the Executive Committee.


Fundraiser Delivery Coordinator:  (1 position open, 1 already assigned) -reserve the St Elizabeth Ann Parish Center for the day of delivery once the date is confirmed by the Fundraiser Coordinators, usually in February or March. Requests volunteer slots be posted to iVolunteer via the school.  Inform the school of the pick up times and make sure they are posted to the website and virtual backpack. Communicate with the fundraiser company rep the week before delivery to receive the invoice information needed for pick up day, ie what each student/family owes and number of boxes to be picked up. Make sure all materials for delivery day are ready, note cards, envelopes for each order, invoice sheets copied, numbered signs, outdoor signs for school entrances. On delivery day, put the signs out at the school, be at the sight early to ensure the room is ready, meet the fundraiser rep and volunteers for first shift. Once main delivery is made, coordinate, using the volunteers, the separating of orders by number into the appropriate row. Supervise the pick up process, answer any questions, work with the rep and fundraiser coordinator to solve any issues. Begin doing reminder calls toward the end of the time frame for any orders remaining. Be prepared to find places to store frozen and dry goods not picked up. Notify the office staff of any orders that may need to be sent home with students in the following days.


Educational Parent Speaker CoordinatorAssist with scheduling speakers. Help reserve space for the presentation. Be at the presentation to set up and tear down and assist speaker. Help with getting volunteers for nursery for parents who need it. 


~Jumping into Kindergarten is an opportunity for incoming kindergarten students to work with our two kindergarten teachers to be prepared for a great transition.  See flyer for details on how to get signed up:  Space is limited and signup deadline is by April 23rd


~Product Partners Reminder The final product partners collection for this school year is coming soon - please turn in your collection bags by Friday, May 12.  This is the last collection for the Labels for Learning - that program is ending this summer, so please check your pantry for any products that still have those labels on them.  Family Fare receipts can also be turned in with product partners - we can collect receipts from their stores all year and turn them in for cash for the school!!  Thank you for all your collecting throughout the year to support SJS!!

~SJS Vacation Bible Fun

Registration for VBF (June 19-23) hast started!  The theme for Vacation Bible Fun this year is Maker Fun Factory: Created by God Built for a Purpose. We will explore how God made you, is for you, is always with you, will always love you, and made you for a reason. Any child entering Preschool – 4th grade in the fall of 2017 are welcome to attend! Tell your friends and family as this is open to everyone! Student registration forms are available at St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann’s in the foyer of the church or can be found on our website:  Program will be Thursday at 6:30pm. All students will decorate a t-shirt (provided by parents on first day of VBF) to wear at the program.

Hello SJEA Soccer Families and Coaches 

Registration for the 2nd Annual SJEA Team Complete Summer Soccer Camp is open!   There is no other summer soccer camp around like this, don’t miss out.  Last year was a blast, this year will be even better!


I would like to invite your son or daughter, their friends and whole team to join us for a week of Team Complete Soccer, a half day camp designed for ages 5-13. The TCP Camp is a unique four-day program that combines expert soccer coaching with a positive Christian message. Our coaching staff has played at elite levels, is hand selected and trained in the 3-Dimensional Coaching philosophy (Mind, Body, and Heart). Our unique curriculum each day will consist of core soccer development and character growth with a Biblical connection to leave lasting impact.   Our goal is to unleash greatness in each camper.
