Support Our School!

Angelo Badami (7th Grade) will be selling school spirit paracord bracelets on Tuesday, April 17th before and after school in the main lobby.  Bracelets are $5 each.  Angelo is donating back all proceeds to SJS!

~April Spotlight Skills: This month we will focus on building the skill 'Accepting Criticism or a Consequence.' Criticism and consequences are a part of everyone's life. Students might hear criticism from others as a result of behavior or work habits. Sometimes students use behaviors that result in consequences. This month we will encourage students to work on positive ways to accept criticism and consequences. Below are the steps to practice this skill with your children at home: 

Accepting Criticism or a Consequence

  1. Look at the person.
  2. Say “Okay.”
  3. Stay calm.

Confirmation Receptions

April 20th SEA – April 27th SJ - Receptions are being planned immediately following Confirmation Masses at both St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann. It is our hope that this tradition will continue, with the 6th and 7th grade families planning for the event and then being able to relax and enjoy the evening when their son or daughter is confirmed in 8th grade.

 

Thank you to all those who have been volunteering to help in the many different ways! Parents + School = Winning Team!

The theme for Vacation Bible Fun this year is Shipwrecked: Rescued By Jesus. We will explore how Jesus rescues us when we are worried, lonely, struggling, when we do wrong and when we are powerless.

 

Vacation Bible Fun 2018:  June 25th - 29th 9:00 am to noon (M-Th)

9:00am to 11am (Fri) at St. James /Seton School


● Any child entering Pre-K-4th grade in the Fall of 2018 are welcome to attend!

 

● Students entering 5th grade – 8th grade in the Fall of 2018 may apply to be a Student Aide in one of the VBF areas.

 

● Soon to be graduates, high school students, and adults are also needed as classroom Teachers and Adult Helpers. No experience is necessary…all the materials and plenty of guidance are provided!

 

● Program will be Thursday at 6:30pm.  All students will decorate a t-shirt (provided by parents) to wear at the program.

 

● Teachers, adult helpers, coordinators, & aides are asked to attend informational meeting on June 12th at 6:00pm/6:20pm at SEA

 

All registration forms (including volunteer forms) are available at St. James and St. Elizabeth Ann’s in the foyer of the church or can be found on our website: sjsvbf.wix.com/kids

~SEA is holding server training for students in grade 5-7th on Saturday, April 21, Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 20th.  See attached form to get signed up.

Community News

 

~Creighton University is offering each family 6 tickets to attend the Creighton versus Kansas game on Wednesday, April 11th at TD Ameritrade Park.  The game will be at 6:30.  You can get your tickets by going to GoCreighton.com/FutureBluejay and select the PRINT AT HOME option.

~Marian is hosting a 7th-Grade Trivia Night on Saturday, April 21, 2018, from 7 to 9 p.m. specifically for girls currently in seventh grade!

The trivia will consist of pop culture questions—movies, music, books, tv shows, etc. Snacks and prizes provided!
