SJS Math Counts Team

SJS was represented well at the Marian math contest on Saturday.  Math Counts Team members are Charli Brusnahan (7th), Lucy Euteneuer (7th), Riley Fritz (8th), Emily Lamoureux (8th), Emily Mordeson (8th), Karina Rief (8th), Sara Steinbruck (7th), Ashley Walsh (7th).

 

Our 7th Grade team took 2nd place out of 10 other 7th Grade teams.  Lucy Euteneuer received 3rd place out of 37 – 7th graders and Karina Rief received 2nd place out of 33 – 8th graders.

 

Congratulations to our team!

 

Valentine Dress Down Day

Tuesday, February 13th will be a dress down day for Valentines.  Students may wear pink, red, white or Valentine’s day themed shirt along with jeans, wind pants or sweats. 

 

Recruiting

Parents, there are posters in the school office to help spread the word about SJS. Please consider taking one to hang at work or share with local businesses. If you'd like a poster, please let us know. Thanks for your support!

~February Spotlight Skills:

This month we will focus on building the skill Disagreeing Appropriately

 

Disagreeing respectfully with others, especially on issues we’re passionate about, isn’t easy. Disagreeing respectfully requires time and patience. The situation might not go your way but people will consider your opinions if you present them calmly; others will give you the respect you deserve. 

Below are the steps provided to practice this skill with your children:

  1. Look at the person.
  2. Use a pleasant voice.
  3. Tell why you feel differently.
  4. Give a reason.
  5. Listen to the other person.

Lunch for our SJS staff and support staff.

~HOPE Bring HOPE into your family’s finances!
