Product Partner Collection

There will be a product partner's collection next Friday, February 2.  Please send bags to school with your student, or place them in the bin at either parish.  Please be sure the bag is labeled with your name so it can be returned to you for our next collection.  If you do not have a product partners bag please contact the office for one.  You can also turn in items in any Ziploc bag, it does not have to be one that the school handed out.

Just a reminder, the turn in for HyVee receipts this year is done and will start again in the fall.  Thank you for all you turned in this year to earn the school over $1000!!!  Also, the labels for education (Campbell’s soup labels) program has ended and we are no longer able to turn in labels so they are not being collected.  Thank you for contributing to this program while it was going on.  We are still collecting Box Tops, Our Family labels, family Fare receipts, Tyson foods labels, and Godfather's Fedoras.  Also be sure to download the shoparoo app to snap a picture of your receipts and earn money for our school!



Parents, there are posters in the school office to help spread the word about SJS. Please consider taking one to hang at work or share with local businesses. If you'd like a poster, please let us know. Thanks for your support!


Paper Request

We are always accepting donations of 1 sided clean paper.  If you know of a company updating letterhead or getting rid of clean 1 sided paper we would love to take it off their hands.  

Superstar Catholic School

Help St. James/Seton School be a Superstar Catholic School once again! Get ready to vote from January 29-February 3rd. If our school is the winner, we will receive prizes such as a live interview on Spirit Catholic Radio, a trophy, on-air spots to promote our school, and that is just to name a few! Also, anyone who votes is eligible for prizes. There is one vote allowed per person (e-mail) so make certain everyone in your family votes for our school. Go to and click on the Superstar Catholic School icon to vote for SJS! Thank you for spreading the word and your continued support. 


Don't forget to send an email to when you have your participation hours completed.  A simple note that explains how you fulfilled the hours is all that is needed.

~Washington DC Trip Sixth and Seventh grade parents, just a reminder there will be a informational meeting on Tuesday, February 6th @ 7:00 p.m. at SEA parish center.  Informational packets will be sent home with students prior to the meeting.

~HOPE Bring HOPE into your family’s finances! Remember that school families purchasing HOPE certificates can get tuition credits – 45% of the profits on the purchased gift cards/certificates go to the school family as credits, when the Sycamore number is provided.  You can also have relatives or friends provide your number to get you more tuition credit.  For St. James school families, the tuition credit is doubled through the St. James Angels of HOPE program.  Some families receive hundreds of dollars.  See the attached HOPE brochure  and visit the HOPE web site today:


~January Spotlight Skill: Working With Others

At school we specifically teach a handful of meaningful social skills with the goal to build on those over time. We talk about the skills in the morning/afternoon announcements, in Guidance classes, and they are also reinforced in the classroom. Working on these skills at home would also help benefit mastering skills over time. 


This month we will focus on Working with Others. The ability to work as part of a team is a major life skill. At school we encourage students to help contribute their own ideas, but also develop projects and plans with others. In the classroom we also model the positive impact working in a team can have on the task at hand. Below are the steps provided to practice this skill with your children:

1.     Identify the task to be completed

2.     Assign tasks to each person

3.     Discuss ideas in a calm quiet voice and let everyone share their ideas

4.     Work on tasks until completed

~SJ/SEA Overflow’s Youth Ministry calendar (grades 6-8), and the details and registration form for the Steubenville conference (open to students entering 9th grade this fall).  See attached flyers for the details,,


~SJS Roundup will be held Thursday, February 22nd in the St. James Parish Center.  We will have 2 sessions, 9:00-10:30 and 1:00-2:30.  Plan now to attend one of these sessions.  Flyer can be found @


~Spring Fling will be held Saturday, February 3rd from 6:00-12:00.  This year’s theme is SJS Superheroes.  Funds raised at this event provide uniforms, sports equipment, tournament fees, referee fees, etc. for track, football, basketball and volleyball teams at St. James.


Cost is $25/per person which covers food, drinks and even a DJ!
