There are hundreds of middle schools in Nebraska and hundreds of musicians who auditioned for the Nebraska 8th Grade All-State Band.  For the second straight year, St. James/Seton Catholic is honored to have two students who were selected to the All-State Band.  Emily Lamoureux was judged to be the 4th best horn player in the state.  Henry Biesanz was chosen 2nd Tenor Saxophone.

The two will travel to Kearney in January to perform with the group.

Congratulations on your big achievement!

~November Spotlight Skill: Following Instructions

This year we have chosen a handful of meaningful social skills to teach and reinforce, with a goal to build on those over time. We talk about the skills in the morning/afternoon announcements, in Guidance classes, and they are also reinforced in the classroom. Working on these skills at home would also help benefit mastering skills over time.

This month we will focus on Following Instructions. During the school day students are expected to follow many instructions. This skill is important; helping students to complete even simple tasks. Below are the steps provided to practice this skill:

Following Instructions

  1. Look at the person.
  2. Say ‘Okay’
  3. Do what you have been asked right away.
  4. Check back.

~School Store If you do any shopping online, we have a new easy way for you to help support our school in the process!  It is entirely optional.  "School Store" is a website that can link you to over 400 stores that will donate a percent of your purchase to our school.  You can even use HOPE certificates to pay - it's a win-win!!  More information will be coming out for you to register (if you choose) so you can send emails to invite family and friends to shop, and your kids can win prizes too!  But you don't have to wait and register - to get started now please visit to see participating stores and for your shopping to benefit SJS school!  Thanks for all your support.

~Veterans   To honor those in our community who have served in the military for Veterans’ Day, SJS would like to make a display honoring their service. Here at school the students will be writing names of those in their families, deceased or living, who have served in any branch of the military onto stars to display. If you have a picture of a loved one in your family who has been or is currently in the service, you may send a copy of that photo for our display. Please send only a copy, as we would not want anything to happen to an original.

Thank you for helping us honor our Veterans!
