Our Annual Coat Drive is October 15-19

*Sponsored by the SJS Fourth Grade Class*

Clean out your closets and donate your clean and gently used coats, hats, and mittens!  They will be sent to the St. Vincent De Paul Society for their coat give away in November.  Donations can be dropped in the collection boxes at SJS during school hours.  Thank You!!





To purchase tickets, please visit our online auction website: Dinner tickets should be purchased by November 9th. On this site you can also donate and bid online whether or not you attend. Online bidding will open in early November.

October Home and School Happenings


Product Partner Turn In 

If you did not turn in your product partners collection bag today, please turn it in to the collection basket at either parish this weekend, or send it to school on Monday.  This bag is for turning in all Box Tops, Our Family labels, Family Fare receipts, Hy-Vee receipts (dated Sept. 1 - Dec. 31), and Tyson labels.  Please be sure to fill in the homeroom number of the child you would like your bag returned to.  If you have any questions, please contact Jen at  Thank you for supporting SJS!!!

Home and School Meeting

Wednesday, November 7th at 7:00pm at the SEA Parish Center

This is a great opportunity to learn what Home and School is all about!

All are welcome.


The SEA Fall Boutique will be here before you know it!  Plan to come on Saturday, November 3 between 9am-3pm to shop our vendor booths, stay for lunch at our concession stand, and grab a sweet treat from our bake sale!  See the attached flyer for all the details.  And if you can print it out and hang it up at your work or a business, please do to help us advertise!!  The more shoppers we have, the more it helps the school!!

Also, if you have a home or business in a popular and visible location where you could put up a yard sign to advertise, please email us at and we will get a sign to you.  Thanks for your help!!



SJS Annual Trunt or Treat will take place Wednesday, October 24th @ 7:00 p.m. in SEA parking lot.  Trunk or Treat is for students in grades PS thru 6th. The best decorated trunk will win a $50 Marcus giftcard.  See flyers for details.  RSVP to Stacey Stoffel


Bring HOPE into your family’s finances! Remember that school families purchasing HOPE certificates can get tuition credits – 45% of the profits on the purchased gift cards/certificates go to the school family as credits, when the Sycamore number is provided.  You can also have relatives or friends provide your number to get you more tuition credit.  For St. James school families, the tuition credit is doubled through the St. James Angels of HOPE program.  Note that the Angels of HOPE match ends after this academic year!  Some families receive hundreds of dollars.  See the attached HOPE brochure and visit the HOPE web site today:



HyVee donates $1 for every $200 spent.  Turn in your receipts dated 9/1/18 thru 12/31/18.


Family Fare donates $1,000 for every $150,000 spent.  Family Fare is not date specified.  They collect all year.



Community News

Link St. James Pancake breakfast will be held in the school gym on Sunday, January 20th.  This is a great volunteer opportunity.  See flyer for how to get signed up.
  Do you know of a company changing their letterhead?  Do you know of a source that has paper clean on one side.  SJS School would love to take it off their hands!  Contact the school office for donations. 

The St. James Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring a trip to Scatter Joy Acres.  The gathering will be October 21st from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with a rain out date (if needed) of Oct 28th 4:00pm to 7:00pm.

Kids up to 5th grade and their parents/guardians will be paid for by the Knights.  

Tickets will be available after all St. James Masses on October 15th and after morning Masses on October 22nd.  

Activities will include: petting zoo, hayrack rides, trails to walk. Hot dogs and s'mores will be provided.
