St. James/Seton School Welcomes New Faculty and Staff

09-05-2013

Lunch Program Update
Dear St. James/Seton Catholic School Parents,

I hope your summer has been a time of relaxation with family and friends.  The 2017- 2018 school year is rapidly approaching.  I am excited for the school year! I want to thank you for the awesome responsibility that you have given the staff at SJS, educating your children.  We will work to provide a superior Catholic education.  We will be committed to providing your children with a safe, compassionate, disciplined environment where they can grow in knowledge and love of God.  It is an honor to be in partnership with our parents as we work to continue the excellence of SJS. At SJS we are about- Faith, family, and future.
I have spent my entire career in Catholic education, and am a firm believer in its power.  I have seen the many ways that what we do in Catholic schools is different and meaningful.  We are shaping the future of our Church and community.  I sincerely enjoy, and feel grateful, to be part of such a worthwhile and rewarding enterprise.  But, I also am well aware of the fact that for a school to be successful we need the support and help of the parents.  So please accept this invitation to be part of your child’s education.  You are indeed welcome to be involved and included in your child’s education.  We appreciate all the sacrifices and efforts of our parents at SJS.
The summer has been a busy time at SJS as we worked on several school improvement projects.  A special thanks to our maintenance and office staffs for all the hard work this summer.  I think the school really looks modern, sharp, and clean.  I am writing to let you know some of the important information for the start of the school year.

-I’m excited to welcome new members to the teaching staff of SJS this year.  Mrs. Tara Neaderhiser will be our new Spanish and Genius Hour teacher.  Mrs. Debbie Vamosi will be our new librarian. Mrs. Sammie Becker will be joining us in First Grade.  Ms. Nora O’Malley will be our new Third Grade teacher.  Ms. Caley Maszk will be joining us in  Fourth Grade.  Mrs. Patty Daly will be teaching Junior High Math.  And, Mrs. Becky Walters will be our new Language Arts Junior High teacher.  We also welcome as para educators, Mrs. Lisa Ciecior, Mrs. Carrie Asselin, and Mrs. Lisa Rangel.  I am excited about the addition of these fine teachers and am sure you will be impressed with their skills and positive energy.  Please take a moment to welcome them to SJS.  I’m sure you will do what you can to make them feel part of our community.  I want to thank for their flexibility, Mrs. Drews who will be moving to Third Grade, Mrs. Wenndy Weber who will be a 5th grade homeroom teacher, and Mrs. Richardson who will be our new Student Services Director.

-We will be introducing a more guided reading approach to Reading in the younger grades.  To accomplish this we now have a leveled literacy book room, with over 1600 leveled readers for the students and teachers to use! What a powerful resource our teachers will now have available.  We also will be implementing the STAR Reading program which will give our teachers a greater ability to benchmark and monitor the progress of our students.  The Genius Hour will also begin this year.  This is sure to be a year of great progress and new growth.
